ABOUT BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS

WHY THE BLUES
By sharing this music at schools to students who have limited access to the genre we can help to build future audiences. In a digital world, this interaction provides the opportunity to learn how music is actually made.

WHAT THE STUDENT AUDIENCES AT YOUR SCHOOL WILL SEE...
A 60 minutes program from Aristotle Jones plus (2) accompanists, (typically snare drum & bass guitar) performing historical Blues standards, as well as Aristotle's orginal and impovisational blues songs combined with lessons about the fundamentals of blues, American music history, and musical storytelling.

BLUES YOU CAN USE
Imagine your students hearing Blues and Roots music for the first time. Many elementary, middle and high-school aged students have never attended a live Blues concert, and many of the Blues and Roots music pioneers are no longer with us, creating a knowlege gap between the sights and sounds of the 20th Century American music and the students of the 21st Century. The Blues in the Schools edutainment program is an excellent way to bridge that gap is compelling and engaging addition to American History, Music, Art, or Social Studies curriculum.

Carrying on the Tradition...
A central theme of Aristotle's music and community projects is shedding light on the contribution to art in culture provided by Black Americans living in the Appalachian Mountains. He is the descendant of coal miners, and farmers who against all odds made a life in the poor coal town of Osage, West Virginia.

Aristotle's stories reflect the values of courage, fortitude and determination that were taught to him while porch picking with his grandfather, a regional Gospel and Soul singer who traveled to segregated coal camps performing for black coal miners in the mid 20th Century, and Aristotle is proud to carry on the legacy of the contributions of Black Appalachian Creatives to the the fabric of modern American Music.
